Going Into 2022 With a Word of The Year
Do you set New Year’s resolutions and never keep them? I know I have many times. It’s always along the lines of healthier choices, more exercise, etc. Then 3 months later the resolution seems to fade. Can you relate?
This New Year, my family and I are celebrating in quarantine. This has given me extra time to think of my goals and purpose for 2022.
It seems as we scroll through social media, we can find ideas and advice making New Year’s Resolutions. Let’s go into 2022 differently and choose our word of the year and set goals to live by it. Think about your purpose, drive, the direction you want for yourself and/or your business.
Thinking about what my word is going to be, I want to feel that I can hold onto the commitment confidently striving to reach the goals that come with it. The New Year is a great time to evaluate our personal areas we want to focus on and choose a word or theme that will ignite you.
To help you discover your word, ask yourself these questions:
- What do you want to focus on?
- What are your struggles?
- What are you passionate about?
- What needs to be done in you and through you?
- A year from now, looking back on 2022, what would you be most excited about accomplishing?
What word from your list is most motivational? It may not come to you right away, so continue to think about it and it will come to you. As you discover your word, allow it to help you meet your goals and help you be your best every day.
My word for 2022 is EMPOWERED.
Write your word down and put it someplace you will see it everyday. I wrote mine on a yellow Post-It® note and have it on my mirror in my bathroom as a daily reminder. Use your
word as a hashtag, no one needs to know what it means, it will set it as a reminder for you and it will be fun.
What Empowered means to me, having control of my life and the direction I want to grow. Taking action and making decisions toward my career goals. Helping SSBS grow and helping others reach their business goals are reasons Empowered is a great fit for me in 2022.
Your word of the year is more than just a word, make it a purposeful practice in your daily life. Let your word of 2022 be your anthem that leads you to where you want to go. Focus on how the word changes your daily life and celebrate it. It’s important to celebrate the positive change in your life.
